Ministry Group
The Ministry Group deals with many issues surrounding the support of Ministry in all its forms; no two meetings are the same.
Recent agenda topics have included:
- Meeting with prospective Baptist ministers, praying together and discerning a sense of calling to Baptist ministry
- Each meeting receives a report from the Regional Minister for Ministry, sharing news of settlements within the Association as well as other pastoral news from churches, retired ministers, et al
- Consideration of a Care Covenant and how this might be a useful way of supporting ministers in church situations
- Peer Supervision - receiving reports from those involved in the scheme and considering how others can be encouraged to participate in what is proving to be a useful scheme
- Discussing the issue of Women in Ministry and the concerns that very few women appear to be enquiring about entering Baptist ministry
- Looking at papers from the BUGB concerning Regional Recognition of Ministry and agreeing comments to be fed back to the BU
- Supporting and reviewing Newly Accredited Ministers during their 3/4 year NAM period; and recommending them for full accreditation when appropriate
