Join the Ministry Group?

THE Revd Chris Upton, minister at West Lane Baptist Church, Haworth, is Chair of the YBA's Ministry Group.

Chris UptonChris writes: "In recent years, it has been my privilege to be part of the Association’s Ministry Group, and I am presently serving as Group Chair. The group is a great mix of ordained and lay folk from throughout the Association and we work closely with Mary and Graham, our Regional Ministers, as we seek to support ministry in all its forms across Yorkshire. We presently have vacancies in the group and are looking for people who may be able to volunteer to serve.

"Is there someone in your fellowship who might have skills and experience which could contribute to the Ministry Group?  We would especially welcome new lay people and BME individuals who are presently under represented on the group.

"The group has a detailed Standing Order which outlines its purpose and activities but in summary there are two distinct areas of activity Ministerial Recognition (MR) and Ministerial Support (MS). Group members are involved in visiting and interviewing ministry candidates, reviewing Newly Accredited Ministers and undertaking visits as needed, and participating in YBA Ministry meetings.

"Amongst the group members we need folk who have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

·        Interviewing skills and other HR experience

·        Experience in ministry

·        Training or educational experience

·        Counselling

"Please give this your prayerful and thoughtful attention. If you or anyone you might be aware of would welcome a conversation about serving on the group, then please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Mary Taylor for a chat."
