News from Mexborough

Mexborough ArmisticeON Armistice Day, the YBA circulated a timely news item from Mexborough Baptist Church.

“While some of the members and friends of Mexborough Baptist Church and the Scout groups joined the Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Mexborough, Pastor Denise Lancaster led a service at the church on the theme of making peace.

“There was an opportunity for all to bring forward a poppy as a memory and a prayer for peace.

“Displayed on the wall by the cross was a Remembrance Wreath of hand prints and cupcake cases which the Beavers had made with a poem about the Poppy, courtesy of Sparklebox.” The poem was written by Paul Hunter, from Benton, Newcastle, in 2014.
