Stepping out in faith

OVER in Huddersfield, three Baptist churches are working together as the “Huddersfield Baptist Fellowship” – Dalton Baptist Church, Longley and Lowerhouses Community Church and Milnsbridge Baptist Church.

Missioners Colin and Carole Pattenden have signed up with the Neighbourhood Prayer Network, which aims to see every street in the UK covered in Christian prayer, with Christians praying for their immediate neighbours, caring for their neighbours and sharing Jesus with their neighbours. Colin and Carole meet regularly with another couple, Robert and Mary Price, of Longley and Lowerhouses, to pray for where they live.

It hopes to find a different church each day of the year to do one prayer walk, making a chain of continuous prayer walking across the UK, for the whole of 2017.

Carole says she has registered two walks - the first is on Sunday, March 26th from Dalton Baptist Church. "We will be praying around the estate close to the church, after the morning service," she said.
The second is on Sunday, April 2nd around Longley and Lowerhouses after the three HBF churches' joint gathering. A third will be planned for Milnsbridge.

The three churches - and anyone else locally - are being encouraged to take part - and bring sandwiches for before stepping out.

"It will be an opportunity to walk and pray around our churches and to pray God's blessing over our communities. I am sure provision can be made for anyone who wants to pray, but has trouble walking, or walking far," adds Carole.
