Beyond the Philippines
A reflective article by YBA Young Adults Lead- Naomi Fennell
In July 2024, six young adults from the Yorkshire Baptist Association embarked on a mission trip to the Philippines. What started as a brief journey overseas quickly became a defining moment that transformed their faith and ignited a lasting passion for Jesus.
Today, the impact is clear. Each of them is growing in their discipleship journey, carrying a deep love for God and a desire to serve others. The seeds planted during that trip have taken root, and the fruit is showing in remarkable ways.
Here’s a glimpse of the journey that’s still unfolding:
Church Leadership
Four team members are now actively involved in student ministries within their local churches. Three have led worship at YBA events and at a Baptist church where new believers are being nurtured and encouraged.Spiritual Harvest
One student, now in their second year, has not only introduced numerous friends to church but has also joyfully witnessed several come to faith and be baptized.New Beginnings
Another has seamlessly transitioned into a new city and church, successfully completing their first year of their degree.A New Life Milestone
One celebrated a significant life event, getting married and moving to the USA.Deepening Faith
One graduate has stepped into full-time work while also joining the Deeper School of Ministry. They've taken part in another mission trip and are serving faithfully on their church’s student team.Leading in Worship and Life
Another, now working full-time after finishing university, is leading worship and serving with their student team, using their gifts to bless and encourage others.Living Faith in the Workplace
Finally, one team member, now in their second year of employment, has found meaningful ways to share their faith with colleagues, bringing the hope of Jesus into everyday conversations.
It’s been just one year since the trip, but the transformation continues. Each of these young adults has stepped into something bigger than themselves. Their stories remind us that when we say yes to God, it doesn’t end when the trip is over. It often marks the beginning of something much greater.
We give thanks for all that has grown from that journey and look forward with expectation to all that’s still to come.
