A Milestone Moment: South Ossett Baptist Church’s First Wedding in 28 Years!
There are moments in church life that remind us all of God’s goodness and faithfulness. South Ossett Baptist Church recently experienced one of those moments, and we are delighted to share the story across the YBA family.
Tracy Shields, Minister at South Ossett, informed us about the joyful celebration that took place on Friday 4th April 2025. On that day, Charlotte and Ricky were married surrounded by family, friends, and their church family. It was not just a wedding day. It was a moment of real significance for the church, as Charlotte is the first church member to be married at South Ossett since Jeanette and Danny’s wedding all the way back in 1997.
The day itself was full of life and meaning. Charlotte and Ricky chose two powerful Bible passages, Psalm 30 and Matthew 14, where Peter steps out of the boat to walk on water towards Jesus. These verses reflected their own story. They spoke of challenges faced and overcome, and of bold steps of faith taken when it would have been easier to stay in familiar places.
Charlotte’s journey with the church began a few years ago, when she felt quite literally drawn through the church doors by God. Since then, she has become a vital part of the church community. She was baptised in November 2023 and is now a regular at Biglife Bible Study and Messy Church. Ricky has also stepped in to join church life and was a huge help during the church’s recent redecoration, as well as becoming part of Brick Church.
As Tracy shared, it has been a real privilege for the South Ossett fellowship to walk alongside Charlotte and Ricky. Their story is a beautiful reminder that God is always at work, drawing people to himself and building strong foundations for the future.
We celebrate with South Ossett Baptist Church at this wonderful moment and give thanks for the new beginnings God is shaping in their midst. Alongside celebrating Charlotte and Ricky, we also want to congratulate Jeanette and Danny on an amazing 28 years of marriage. What a beautiful testament to God’s faithfulness through the years. It is moments like these that remind us how the love of God weaves through generations, bringing new beginnings and renewed hope.
