A Team of Disciple-Makers Ready to Serve
The vision of YBA is captured in these words, “Making disciples by multiplying healthy churches across Yorkshire”. For the past 7 years YBA have partnered with Biglife, a Disciple Making Movement with its roots in Asia. Biglife has a focus on making disciples who make disciples, following the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). In Asia they have gone back to basics with how we see disciple making in the life of Jesus and the early church, and sought to apply this to their own lives. Over the past 25 years they have seen ordinary people stepping out in faith and obedience to Jesus, and over 100,000 home churches emerge across much of Asia.
YBA have been blessed by the partnership over recent years as Peter Dunn has brought much of the learning from Asia into our very different context. Tracy Shields for South Ossett Baptist Church said, “As a church we have been looking at how to make disciples rather than just have outreach events. The Biglife principles and approach allows us to be intentional in our conversations whilst holding discovery bible studies in a way that everyone is equal and given space to hear and be directed by God.”
We now have five part-time people in Yorkshire serving alongside Peter in helping churches to engage in disciple making. Tracy Green in Beverley, Tracy Shields in Ossett, Lucy Brown in Bradford, Ashenafi Mekuria in Leeds and Giles Holloway in Sheffield are all available to serve the churches in YBA. They come not with a programme, but with a desire to understand each context, and to help us to be disciple makers wherever we are.
