Priory Baptist Church Celebrates their 50th Anniversary
Rev Doreen Gothard has written an account of their celebration weekend.
On the weekend of the 9th and 10th of May we had a wonderful time celebrating God’s faithfulness over the past 50 years in our present building. The church itself was planted 79 years ago, starting in the local Primary School with a Sunday School. It was good to look back and remember those who have gone before us, to recall God's faithfulness in the past, to acknowledge His faithfulness to us now and to thank Him for His faithfulness to come. Rev. Stuart Potter was the speaker for the weekend, Stuart was the minister at Priory between 1989 and 1996.
It was good to see past members over the weekend and share memories with them. On Saturday we had a time of praise, learnt a little of the 79 year history of the church and heard from Stuart, followed by a shared buffet. On Sunday the church service was full, it is always encouraging to have to add extra chairs in the worship area! Stuart’s message of Unity and Revival was encouraging, giving us a new fire to continue God's work in the community we seek to serve. Following the service, 43 of us went out together to share a meal. The weekend was full of memories and fellowship and we look forward in great anticipation to see where God’s faithfulness will lead us in the coming years.
