A Joy-Filled Baptism Sunday with South Craven Baptist Church

There are some Sundays that stay with you long after they've finished, and our Baptism Sunday on 28th June at South Craven Baptist Church was certainly one of them.

James Clarke, Minister of South Craven Baptist Church, writes … From the moment people began arriving, there was a real sense of anticipation. The church was full, with friends, family, church members and visitors gathering to celebrate as Rhonda and Lucy took the exciting step of being baptised.

One of the most powerful parts of the morning was hearing their stories. With honesty, courage and vulnerability, Rhonda and Lucy shared something of their journeys of faith and how God has been at work in their lives. Their testimonies were deeply moving, reminding us that each person's story is unique and that God continues to meet people with love, grace and hope. As they were baptised, the joy in the room was unmistakable, with lots of smiles, tears and applause as they publicly declared their faith.

The celebration carried on long after the service, as in glorious sunshine, we gathered outside to enjoy a fantastic afternoon together. The smell of the BBQ filled the air, there was plenty of delicious cake to share, and activities for all ages that brought laughter and fun. Whether people were trying their hand at archery, playing basketball, testing their aim at Tin Can Alley, bouncing on the bouncy castle or proudly showing off their glitter tattoos, there was something for everyone.

It was especially great that people from some of our wider expressions of church, including Messy Church, Foundations and Sporty Church, were part of the celebrations. Seeing so many different generations and groups enjoying time together was a beautiful picture of what church is all about - sharing life, building friendships and celebrating what God is doing.
