YBA ASSEMBLY & AGM 2026

Date: Saturday 20th June

Venue: Wakefield Baptist Church, WF1 5JY

Time: 9.30am – 3.30pm

Registration £8 (subsidised) Includes a hot lunch

Jesus’ church is wonderfully diverse, made up of people from different generations, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, cultures and physical abilities, yet one. Some are already gathered in, while others are still beyond the fold, yet known and deeply loved by the Good Shepherd who says “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them in also” (John 10.16). Though we are One Body, we have Many Stories. Empowered and led by the Holy Spirit, how is the beautiful body of Jesus in all its glorious diversity becoming one? How are ordinary people, through the love of an extraordinary God impacting the lives of people in different communities around us?

We’re inviting you to our 2026 YBA Assembly & AGM to explore our theme “One Body: Many Stories.” This day will be an opportunity to learn from the rich diversity within our churches, ordinary people sharing honest stories, not as experts, just churches encouraging one another. We will hear how they are becoming more welcoming, helping people feel more valued and an integral part of God’s family, making room for and journeying more intentionally with people from diverse backgrounds. We will explore:

  • Neurodivergence and disabilities

  • Emotional and mental well being

  • 18-35s (young adults)

  • Ethnic/cultural diversity

  • Different socio-economic backgrounds

Expect real experiences, practical insights, and hope-filled conversations as we seek to reflect more fully the richness of Christ’s body/diversity in our communities, growing together and encouraging one another in mission and discipleship making.

There will be a Diversity Story Board where other stories including your church’s story, can be shared. Come prepared to include your story too because every story matters in God’s Kingdom. We want you to return to your church inspired and energised to widen the welcome in your church and to engage more effectively with the communities around you as we continue to make disciples through multiplying healthy churches.

It will be a day filled with worship, prayer, learning, catching up with old friends, making new ones, encouragement, inspiration, good food and much more.
