A renewed partnership between YBA and Biglife
YBA has partnered with Biglife since September 2019 and has been blessed as we have learnt from Disciple Making Movement (DMM) principles lived out in India and beyond. While our context in Yorkshire is very different to West Bengal in India where Biglife began, the Biblical principles still apply. A number of our churches have benefited from simple training in sharing faith and making disciples in small groups. It fits in perfectly with the opening statement of the YBA vision “Making disciples…”, and so is relevant for all of our churches.
As the term of one partnership came to an end, we decided to not just do the same again, but rather to step up the partnership as the focus on disciple making is at the heart of who we are as Baptists in Yorkshire. So, we and Biglife are adding a number of part-time roles to support our discipleship enabler Peter Dunn in serving churches across Yorkshire. Tracy Shields (South Ossett Baptist Church), Ashenafi Tereza (Grace Gospel Church, Leeds), Giles Holloway (Arise Sheffield) and Lucy Brown (Clayton Baptist Church) are now onboard to serve us.
Their role is to come alongside churches to consider how disciple making principles can be worked out in practice in our various contexts. We now have some great examples in Yorkshire Baptist churches of how disciple making principles are being worked out. It is not so much about a programme, but rather looking at how the Great Commission to “Go and make disciples” works out in the life of the church and members. This may lead to some training, ongoing support, and opportunities to meet with others involved.
