Inter-Ethnic Church Learning Community 3
Growing from a multi-ethnic into an inter-ethnic church does not happen overnight: it takes intentionality, commitment and courage, willingness to listen well and learn from one another; to work on different aspects of our shared life together, so that everyone, no matter their ethnicity or background, can fulfil their God given potential and thrive in God’s family.
YBA is delighted to invite you to its 3rd Inter-Ethnic Church Learning Community. We will explore Leadership, Migration and Biblical Preaching: Learning from the Antioch Church. We are excited to have Revd Dr Israel Olofinjana as our main contributor.
Using the church in Antioch as a basis, he will help us unpack some of the challenges of raising up leaders from among our sisters and brothers of global majority heritage. Additionally, we will explore biblical perspectives on migration and the concept of ‘reverse missionaries.’ Finally, we will also examine intercultural biblical interpretation, how our cultural/ethnic lenses might impact our biblical understanding and interpretation. Israel is well placed to help us explore these issues as he is a published practical and public theologian and the Director of the One People Commission of the Evangelical Alliance. He is an accredited Baptist minister who has led two multi-ethnic Baptist churches.
Whether you attended a previous Learning Community or are thinking of joining for the first time, you are most welcome! You will receive excellent input, engage in impactful conversations, join in lively worship and fervent prayer and hear good practice stories from across our YBA family. Come as a diverse group of about 5 people from your fellowship. Be part of this transformative journey to live out the gospel call to love one another as one body in Christ from different nations, tribes, peoples and languages (Rev 7.9). Our communities need to hear a different narrative, a prophetic one, and we, the body of Christ, can model that.
